As our life changes, so will our circle. We will outgrow people in our circle.
Some people in our circle outgrow us. Some people are only compatible with who we used to be. Some people had the opportunity to move forward with us but they opted not to. Sometimes we need to step out of our circle, so we don’t keep going around and around in circles. Life is always moving forward. The question is are we moving forward? Let us welcome personal advancement as a gift and opportunity today. Mental clutter in our mind is draining. This clutter is noise that deteriorates our energy. Clutter takes up valuable space in our mind.
When we can clear our mind, it’s easier to stay focused, find the best in the day, and see the world around us through a clear lens. Why not remove people and things that assume a full-time position in our thoughts? We can reduce them to a part-time or temporary position or give them up completely. Let us get rid of the junk so we can open up space for newness in our thoughts today. Managing expectations is a balancing act. Expectations that are out of our control, when reduced to zero, brings the greatest opportunity for a bonus.
We set ourselves up for success when we attach to expectations that are in our control. Everything else is an unhealthy attachment: people, situations, external forces… When we release the expectations that are out of our control, we are open to simply enjoy the way things are rather than what we think they should be. Let us enjoy all the extra bonuses that we receive today. There is no such thing as a free ride. Sometimes we can coast but after a while, we must start pushing again. Otherwise, we come to a complete standstill.
We may wait and wait and wait for someone to come help but at some point, we must get up and start moving again, pushing again. A life that is spent stagnant is a life that is wasted. When the ride of our life is over, wouldn’t we want it to be used up with nothing left over or undone? Let us be free to make the most of every moment while riding this beautiful ride of life today. When we get stuck in a rut, we probably got there because we let ourselves get comfortable. A rut isn’t something we can’t get out of. It’s a habit or pattern of acting in a certain way that has become dull, repetitive, boring… we think it’s hard to change but is it really?
Maybe we are just doing the same thing over and over for too long. Being in a rut is simply being stuck in a habit of living. Maybe it’s as easy as starting a new habit. Let us turn our rut into a smooth trail of being alive today. Being selfish in a negative way is to be excessively or exclusively concerned about ourselves without regard for others, especially those we care about most. Being selfish in a positive way is having confidence to arise from concern about our own well-being.
We shouldn’t feel guilty for being selfish if we are improving ourselves or making ourselves happy. Sometimes to be successful, we must be selfish or else we will never achieve anything we desire. The trick is to balance selfishness and selflessness carefully. Let us give back by being more selfless and less selfish after we attain our goals today. Think about it. This moment used to be the future. That future, now the past, is here in the immediate now.
The brain races and intently fills the space in between the present moment and the unknown future. This blank space, if not intently directed, is what causes us the most angst because we don’t know what is going to happen next. Being intentionally directed isn’t controlling the unknown and unpredictable things going on in our lives. It is being more aware of this blank space and controlling only what we can. Let us control our blank space in between every thought today. Every obstacle that comes our way is a chance for us to become more aware of our power within.
Let us decide to act, not react, when any obstacle stands in our way today. Think about some of the most impressive and impactful people we know. What is the one thing that sets them apart?
When others hear us complain about how tough we have it or how hard we struggle to get what we have, it lessens the impressive factor. Let us “be like a duck – calm on the surface but always paddling like the dickens underneath” today. Sometimes we take many paths before we find the right one.
Sometimes it feels like we are magically led to a path. Sometimes our path finds us. Sometimes we cross people in our path that point us in a new direction. Sometimes our paths cross with others for a reason. Sometimes a unique person is placed in our path for just a moment of time, but they leave a lasting footprint. Sometimes we travel back down a path but it’s never the same. Let us follow our light and know that’s the right path for us today. |
